"Битники"Представители "поколения битников" [ Beat Generation]. Впервые о "битниках" (о поэтах, собиравшихся в книжной лавке "Огни большого города" [City Lights Book Store] в г. Сан-Франциско - А. Гинзберге [ Ginsberg, Allen], Г. Корсо [Corso, Gregory], Л. Ферлингетти [Ferlinghetti, Lawrence] и Г. Снайдере [ Snyder, Gary], а также о писателях Дж. Керуаке [ Kerouac, Jack] и У. Берроузе [Burroughs, William]) было написано в газете "Нью-Йорк таймс" в июне 1959. (Впоследствии суффикс -nik стал продуктивным - возникали слова: [peacenik] - "мирник", [Vietnik] - "вьетник", участник кампаний протеста против войны во Вьетнаме и др.
